In this particular landscaping / garden renovation project in north Devon we used a range of materials including natural stone with Brazilian slate capping, Timberstone paving, granite brick sets, resin bound gravel and oak to construct raised beds. We installed spotlights throughout the garden, positioned to light up the trees at night. We also designed a planting scheme to enhance the space and provide interest all year round.

One of the main features of this garden is the lower seating area. We used high quality natural stone to construct beautifully curved retaining walls, with stunning slate-topped steps leading up to the next level of the garden. Our customers wanted an easy to maintain yet aesthetically pleasing option for the flooring surface, so we recommend installing a resin bonded surface. A resin bound surface is water permeable, which is important in terms of SUDS compliance, durable and provides a smooth finish, so there is no loose stone. There is a huge range of colour choice for the resin, but we opted for a natural looking aggregate, to tie in with the traditional stonework and overall style of the garden. The seating area was finished off with a complimentary planting scheme, specifically designed to provide all year round interest.
